Painting Portraits in Oils with Instructor Darla Donley

These are on-going classes.  Please register online and the instructor will contact you before the start of class.

Tuesday            Noon to 4:00 PM

Tuition Fee:      $55.00 members;  $60.00 non-members 

Class tuition is collected at the beginning of each class by the instructor and payment may be made by cash, check or credit card.

Supplies:  Instructor will supply oil paints and paint medium.

Students will need to bring flat & detail brushes, canvas, paper towels, wet wipes and Q-tips.

This is an ongoing portrait class for beginners and seasoned oil painters.  Students will not finish the portrait in one session.  This is a portrait technique that takes time to finish – at least 4-6 smaller classes like this one.  It also depends on how slow or fast the student paints.  Each step of the process is explained and demonstrated.  Students will learn an old master’s portrait technique with the emphasis on values and hues.  It’s an exciting process that brings depth to the portrait.  Once the student signs up, I will email them to approve the reference photo they want to use.  I also help the student get the sketch on the canvas using several general rules of placement.
