Amelie Bush Rogers Impressionism Oil Artist
As an award winning contemporary oil painter I attempt to emphasize the underlying concept of painting that has guided master painters for centuries. The classical use of multiple layers of transparent and semi-transparent glazes allows light to pass through to the canvas, producing a luminosity and depth not possible by applying one or two layers of opaque paint.
My color and subject selection lean toward impressionistic, yet also representational. I paint from memory, sketches, life and occasionally a photograph. Commissions give me the opportunity to bring dynamic color and mystery to a client's favorite photographs or memories.
My works include American, European and African landscapes and figures and are held in corporate and private collections throughout the US and abroad.
I teach The Landscape in Classical Oil at the Art League of Daytona Beach and work with children and young adults through Very Special Arts Florida.
I have been exhibiting work since age 17 when juried into the “Young Talent in Oklahoma”. My first one-person show was in 1976. Since then my work has appeared in shows and galleries from Florida to California.
In 2011 I was one of 77 nationally and internationally named to Best of American Oil Artists and Best of International Oil Artists.
Last century I graduated from the University of Oklahoma. I have happily resided in Daytona Beach for 20 years with my husband, 2 cats, a growing number of Koi and hundreds of orchids.
