An Artist's Statement:
Being an artist has been both a blessing and a challenge for me. My soul is driven by passion and the desire to make something beautiful and one-of-a-kind. I get completely lost in my work, which is always an adventure and an exploration that hasn't been done before.
To become an artist, you must learn to let go of who you are and explore your own inner world. You must let this inner world lead, motivate, and perform the work for you. You become a tool for the same creative force that made everything. You must learn to rely on and trust your own inner teacher.
I feel compelled and obligated as an artist to care for our planet, to forgive, to love, to always learn, and to appreciate and respect the sacredness of all living things.
My craftsmanship is a portrayal of excellence, quietness, and secret.
Biography of Artist:
I was born in September 1962 in Havana, Cuba. The beach was a fun place to spend my childhood. Those days appeared to be so blissful. The Caribbean Sea is breathtaking. My most treasured memories are of the endless days of sunshine and cool breezes. My work is still influenced by the vibrant and alive colors of this Caribbean island. My family and I were subjected to constant harassment as a result of our non-participation in the communist party during the Cuban revolution. The years I spent in school were filled with anxiety and fear. Eventually, we were permitted to leave the island in fishing boats during the Mariel exodus in 1980. I'm a U. S. resident now and I have lived in Los Angeles since my appearance in the US.
